Should Buta Singh quit? Tell us

January 24, 2006 14:58 IST

The Supreme Court on Tuesday decided that Bihar Governor Buta Singh misled the Centre in recommending the dissolution of the state assembly in March 2005, following the assembly elections.

The court added that the Union Cabinet should have crosschecked the facts before accepting his recommendation to dissolve the House after the NDA claimed a simple majority.

Despite the stricture, Buta Singh has refused to step down. He remains defiant, and said he will take the salute at the Republic Day parade in Patna.

Do you think Buta Singh's time is up? Should the Centre, which appointed him to the post, intervene to uphold constitutional propriety? Or is Buta Singh right in his insistence that there is no reason for him to quit? Tell us!
