Should the BJP go back to Hindutva?

Last updated on: January 20, 2006 19:15 IST

Newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Friday signaled the party's return to a Hindutva agenda when he raised the Sangh Parivar's core issues -- the Ram temple, abrogation of Article 370 -- and asked cadres to be careful about their conduct, morality and image.

Friday's development marked the end of a chapter in the BJP that started with Lal Kishenchand Advani's visit to Pakistan in June when he said Pakistan founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah was secular.

Those comments sparked a row between the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, ending in Advani stepping down and Rajnath taking over the party reins.

The RSS thinks going back to pet issues is the way to go for the BJP. What do you think?
