As a mark of respect for the 'feelings of Hindus', Deoband's Darul Uloom has asked the Muslims in the country to avoid slaughtering cows on the occasion of Id-ul-Azha on January 11.

In a book brought out by the Islamic seminary on the concept of qurbani (sacrifice) associated with Bakr Id, it said the Muslim community should avoid slaughtering cows during the festival as a mark of 'respect for the feelings of Hindus'.
