India's [Images] democracy, upward looking economy and thriving technology sector have come in for praise from two leading American magazines ahead of United States President George W Bush's [Images] visit to the country from Wednesday. With India splashed on the current issue of Newsweek, writer Fareed Zakaria [Images] comments that the world, and particularly the US, is courting India as it never has before.
"Fascinated by the new growth story, perhaps wary of Asia's Chinese superpower, searching to hedge some bets, the world has woken up to India's potential," says the Newsweek article.

The report states that while India has been the second fastest growing economy in the world over the past 15 years, in ten years, its economy will be larger than Italy's [Images] and in 15 years will have overtaken Britain's.
It says that India's growth is "messy, chaotic and largely unplanned", but notes that the Indian state has been a "roaring success" in terms of its democratic values. "India's democracy is a wonder to behold.
