Scores of anti-quota medicos and students hit the streets in New Delhi on Tuesday after a gap of almost three months, resuming their agitation a day after the Cabinet decided to introduce a Bill in Parliament proposing reservations in government-aided elite educational institutions.
The agitating students clashed with the police as they were heading towards Congress president Sonia Gandhi's residence to submit a memorandum against the Centre's policy.
Police resorted to firing water cannons and lobbing of tear gas shells to disperse the agitators, who tried to break the security cordon and continue to move towards Sonia's residence. Some students suffered minor injuries while trying to get away from the tear gas and water cannons.
