The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday said it will enact a law to enable the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya if it gets a full majority at the Centre in the next Lok Sabha elections.

"If the BJP gets a full majority at the Centre, we will enact a law that will enable the setting up of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya," BJP chief Rajnath Singh said.

He said the BJP had to keep its core issues aside because of "political compulsions" when it was in power at the Centre.

Also, Singh demanded a national debate on issues like Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code for a consensus.

On the Ram janambhoomi issue, he said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] should revive the Ayodhya cell in the PMO and try to resolve the issue through negotiations.
