In a shocking incident an undertrial prisoner, Shyamdeo Yadav, lodged in Jehanabad district jail in Bihar was burnt by another undertrial prisoner, Ramji Chaudhary, jail officials said on Monday.

Police officials said Shyamdeo Yadav was admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition on Sunday night and he is said to be fighting for his life.

Police sources said Shyamdeo Yadav was carrying a lantern, which accidentally fell on the ground and broke. When he was trying to pick up the damaged lantern, Ramji Chaudhary intentionally threw a burning matchstick on the ground, igniting kerosene oil that spread on to Shyamdeo's clothes.

"Shyamdeo has over 70 percent burns," said a police official.
