M Venkaiah Naidu, vice president of the party, was also present at the meeting. Miss Bharti had called her supporters to her residence in Bhopal on Sunday in the presence of the media. Several ministers of the Babu Lal Gaur ministry and large number of legislators were present at the meeting which she later discribed as Dushera Milan.

These legislators told the party leaders, through the media, to convene a special meeting of the legislator party so that Miss Bharti could return as the chief minister of the state.

Briefing newsmen, Arun Jaitley said that the issue did come up for discussions along with other matters and the party decided to ask the state president Shivraj Singh Chauhan to send a detailed report about the developments in the state to the party president.

"We took note of the news items in television networks and the newspapers about certain developments in Madhya Pradesh. The issue was discussed at the meeting of party general secretaries. The party president L K Advani has not received any letter from the party legislators from the state as was reported in the media.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, state party president, spoke to Advani on phone and gave a detailed account. He has been asked to give a report either in person or in writing. "The party does not approve of the mode of talking by sending a memorandum to the party president through the media. We do not think that this is the proper forum," Jaitley said.

He denied that there was any move to change the state chief minister Babulal Gaur at this juncture. "I am not answering any hypothetical questions as to what will happen tomorrow. The MLAs can voice their grievances to the party president by meeting him in person or use any other forum of the party," he said.
