The Siwan district  court on Thursday rejected three bail petitions of controversial Rashtriya Janata Dal member Mohammad Shahabuddin, lodged in Bhagalpur jail.

The court had rejected his bail petitions  in which non-bailable warrants of arrest were issued against him two months ago. He was arrested in New Delhi on November 6 after evading arrest for two months in the eight NBWs pending against him.

Chief Judicial Magistrate of Siwan A K Barial, rejecting the bail petitions, accepted the government advocate's plea that there was "sufficient evidence" against the member in all the three cases.

The three cases related to recovery of sophisticated firearms during police raids at Shahabuddin's Pratappur residence in 2001, a case of power theft that was lodged after a raid at his ancestral house at Pratapur on April 24 2005 and another case of recovery of firearms from a close associate of the member during raids on April 24 at his ancestral house.
