Three persons are understood to have been detained in Srinagar [Images] by Delhi Police in connection with the serial blasts in the national capital.

A Delhi Police team picked them up over the last three days on the basis of leads provided by Tariq Ahmed Dar, the alleged Lashker-e-Toiba militant, who masterminded the October 29 serial blasts and was arrested on November 10, sources said on Tuesday.

While Hanief Ahmed Dar was detained from Kawdara area in downtown Srinagar on Sunday evening, Imtiaz Ahmed was held from Chanpora area in the city on Monday morning, the sources said, adding that the identity of the third man was not known.

The trio had been taken to Delhi for further questioning, the sources said.

However, senior officials of the Delhi Police's Special Cell, which is conducting the investigations into the blasts, were tight-lipped about the entire episode.

Dar, who also functioned as the spokesman of LeT in the Kashmir Valley, had told his interrogators that the RDX used in the blasts, which killed 60 people and wounded over 200 others, had been smuggled into Jammu and Kashmir [Images] from across the Line of Control, sources said.

A number of teams of Delhi Police were in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh to track the men who had placed the bombs in Paharganj, Sarojini Nagar and a Delhi Transport Corporation bus.

All of them were believed to be Pakistanis and security in markets in Delhi and the Metro had been increased after it emerged that they had identified eight places in the city to carry out a second string of explosions, the sources said.
