A three-member Bench of the Patna high court on Monday began the hearing of Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife, former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi's petition challenging the sanction for their prosecution in a disproportionate assets case, an offshoot of the multi-crore fodder scam.

The Bench was constituted last week by the acting chief justice of Patna high court, Justice Nagendra Rai, for day-to-day hearing from Monday for the expeditious disposal of the case.

The Bench comprises Justice Ram Nandan Prasad, Justice Barin Ghosh and Justice M L Visa.

As per the Supreme Court order, the verdict on the petition must be delivered before the court closes for the summer vacation starting May 21.
