He was known for often hitting the ball for a six.
Haryana Minister Surender Singh, who died in a plane crash on Thursday, was not just the younger brother of Board of Control for Cricket in India president Randhir Singh Mahendra, but was a cricketer in his own right.
Surender was a member of the Parliament cricket team and had been associated with it for about a decade.
Shiv Sena MP and a member of the team, Mohan Rawle recalls Surender bringing the stalls down during a match in Haryana by hitting three sixes in four balls, all at the same spot.
The team, with which Kirti Azad, Chetan Chauhan, Arun Jaitley and K P Singh Deo have been associated, remembers Surender as a team man to the core; as someone who would enliven the atmosphere on the field as also off it.
