Kerala [Images] Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Welfare and Culture Minister A P Anil Kumar on Tuesday resigned from the Oommen Chandy ministry.
Anil Kumar, a nominee of Karunakaran's 'I' faction that is against Chandy, said he did not want to continue, as the CM had 'lost trust' in him. "The CM did not seek my resignation. The decision to quit is my own," Anil Kumar said.
He said he tendered his resignation after he felt he caused inconvenience to the CM by not attending the Congress legislative party meeting on Monday.
Anil Kumar said he did not skip the meeting in protest or as a sign of support to the Karunakaran faction. He said he merely did not want anything to do with the election of a new deputy Congress Legislature Party leader in place of M P Gangadharan, a senior leader from Malappuram district.
Gangadharan, also of the Karunakaran faction, was removed from his post on March 15 for attending one of the 'I' faction rallies.
