Renaming of the new international airport near Hyderabad after the late Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi sparked a furore in both houses of Parliament on Tuesday.

Members of Telugu Desam Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam forced adjournment of the Rajya Sabha.

TDP, AIADMK and BJP members also staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha.

Opposition members said renaming of the new greenfield airport at Shamsbad after dropping the name of the late N T Rama Rao hurt "Telugu pride".

In the Rajya Sabha, opposition members repeatedly rushed to the well raising slogans leading to two adjournments.

Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan ruled that the renaming decision taken at the Cabinet meeting on Monday night could not be changed.
