A dance bar owner from suburban Andheri has been identified as source of the rumours of dam burst and tsunami scare on Thursday night as 17 persons, including three bar girls and two eunuchs, were arrested for raising false alarms, police said on Friday.
While the bar owner is likely to be arrested, six persons employed in the dance bar, have been arrested on charges of spreading rumours with an intent to cause public harm in Samata Nagar slums in western Mumbai, police said.
Similar rumours in Nehru Nagar slums in western Mumbai led to a stampede killing 18 persons.
