Official sources said the President has been flooded with e-mails both from students and their parents seeking his intervention in securing the safe release of four students abducted in the past fortnight from various parts of the state.

The sources said the President's secretary is in regular touch with senior officials in Bihar.

The President, they said, was being kept informed about the developments.

Four students have been kidnapped in the past couple of weeks in Bihar --- Kislay Kaushal of the Delhi Public School in Patna, Ravi Kant of the DAV Public School in Biharsharif, Deepak Kumar of the DAV Public School in Bhagalpur and Sumit Kumar of the St. Paul Public School in Patna.
