Army troops on Tuesday arrested two persons including a Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami militant during an encounter in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir where two houses were burnt by them since Monday, official sources said.

Acting on a specific information regarding pressence of an ultra in a hideout in Chatroo area of Kishtwar, Army and commando group of police laid cordon on Tuesday, they said adding, that the militant opened fire, which was effectively retaliated.

The ultra identified as Mohammad Amin of Ballan villageĀ  was nabbed along with an over ground workers by the commando group of police and army in Chatroo area of Kishtwar after a brief encounter on Tuesday, they told PTI.

An AK-47 rifle, one hand grenade, one AK magazine, 16 rounds of AK and one pouch were recovered from his possession, they said.

The militants beat up a woman and set two houses on fire at Kainchi Morh near Dharamsal in Rajouri district Monday night, they said adding that Zubeda Begum was collecting firewood in forests near the village Monday evening when she came across a group of militants.

They let her off with a warning not to inform the villagers. Reaching home, Zubeida ignored the warning and told everybody about them. The angered militants barged into her house late in the night and beat her up.

They fled after setting fire to her house and that of a neighbour Talab Hussain, they added. There were, however, no casualties.
