Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was re-elected president of the party for the fifth consecutive term on Monday.

His election was announced at a meeting of the party's national council by National Election Officer for the organisational polls and former Bihar minister Ramchandra Purve.

Incidentally, Lalu was the sole applicant for the post.
