Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday described Bihar Governor Buta Singh's recommendation for transfer of a Railway official as 'highly improper'. BJP deputy leader in Rajya Sabha V K Malhotra said the party would raise the issue vociferously in both Houses of Parliament on Monday and demand his recall to ensure free and fair polls in the state.
The issue would also figure prominently at a meeting of National Democratic Alliance leaders called on Monday, he said.
"It was highly improper for the governor to have written to the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Both are getting postings and transfers of their choice through each other. The upcoming Assembly elections cannot be free and fair in such circumstances," added Malhotra.
Earlier on Friday, party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi accused the United Progressive Alliance government of lending 'direct or indirect support' to the 'unlawful activities' of Buta Singh and said his party would approach the Election Commission to seek its intervention as polls were due in the state.
