Demanding action against Union Minister Jagdish Tytler on the basis of the Nanavati Commission report on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday said it would oppose the Adjournment Motion on the issue moved by the Opposition National Democratic Allaiance in the Lok Sabha.
"The Action Taken report is a failure. But at least whatever positive is there should be implemented", senior party leader Hannan Mollah said.

When pointed out that the ATR was 'silent' on Tytler's role, he said, 'credible evidence is there they say. On the basis of that, they can take action.'
Asked whether Tytler should step down from the Council of Ministers, he said, 'it is upto the government (to decide).'
On what would be the party's response on the basis of Home Minister Shivraj Patil's 'assurance' and without revision of ATR, he said, 'we will oppose the Adjournment Motion'.
