Live and let bar girls live: Govinda

April 15, 2005 18:48 IST

Actor-turned-politician Govinda said he favoured the policy of 'live and let live' as far as bargirls and others associated with the bar industry are concerned.

Talking to journalists in Mumbai on Thursday, the Congress member of Parliament denied that he would be meeting party chief Sonia Gandhi to discuss the plight of the bargirls as he had done for the slumdwellers.

He spelt out his future plans and said he favoured the development of his constituency, Mumbai North, on the lines of Shanghai.

"We need good infrastructure -- good roads and sky trains -- in the constituency," he said.

Govinda said that he had suggested to the government to introduce a new 'type' of local train that would have 'ample air circulation to enable passengers to breath freely and not feel congested'.

When asked how he balances politics and films, the MP said, "It's tough. Currently I am selecting a team, which will take care of routine matters in my constituency so I will have time for films as well," Govinda said.
