HC raps air force promotions

Last Updated: November 08, 2004 16:45 IST

The Delhi High court on Monday quashed a decision of the air force's special promotion board-2003, in which Air Vice Marshall T S Chhatwal and Air Vice Marshall Harish Masand were wrongly denied promotion to the rank of Air Marshall.

A division bench of justice Vijender Jain and justice H R Malhotra also quashed the air force's promotion policy of 2002. It has directed the authorities to convene another SPB within four weeks to review the positions of Chhatwal and Masand as per the 2004 air force promotion policy.

The order also quashes promotions of four other Air Marshals - A D Joshi, J S Gujral, F H Major and A K Singh. Their cases will be reconsidered along with those of Chatwal and Masand.
