Security at senior Congress leader and former finance minister Dr Manmohan Singh was beefed up on Tuesday evening amidst speculation that he would be India's next prime minister.

Security agencies visited his home located at 7, Safdurjung Lane and reviewed security there, official sources said.

Two platoons of central paramilitary forces have been stationed there to guard his home.
