The Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial magistrate, P Muraleedharan, granted bail after the government did not oppose the bail plea.

The magistrate said Madani's physical presence before the court could not be secured as he had been lodged in the Coimbatore Central Jail. So there was no legal impediment for considering the bail application of the accused.

The accused has been directed to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10,000 along with two sureties for like amounts, to appear before the court within seven days of his release from the Coimbatore jail and to appear before the magistrate on all days when the trial is conducted.
