Advani to be leader of the opposition

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was on Tuesday elected chairman of the BJP parliamentary party.

Former deputy PM Lal Kishenchand Advani was elected the parliamentary party leader. He will also be the leader of the opposition.

BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu announced this at a meeting of the parliamentary party in New Delhi.

The elections were unanimous.

Naidu also said that former finance minister Jaswant Singh would be the leader of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha. He will also be the deputy leader of the parliamentary party.
