20 named as accused in Nawada massacre

Twenty persons, including the private assistant of the Member of the Legislative Assembly from Warsalaganj, Aruna Devi, have been named as accused for the killing of 10 persons at Chakwai village in Nawada district, Bihar, on July 2 night.
The police said today that a first information report was lodged with Warsaliganj police station on July 4 that named 20 persons, including the MLA's assistant Shailendra Singh, and his relative Shravan Singh. Shailendra Singh is also Nawada district president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Prominent among others named in the FIR are deputy chairman of Kashichak Block [a set of adjoining villages] Arun Singh and mukhiya of Kutri gram panchayat [head of the Kutri village council] Rajkumar Singh.
Police said intensive raids with the help of central paramilitary forces and special task force personnel were going on but no arrests have been made so far.
The dreaded Akhilesh Singh gang had gunned down 10 people at Chakwai village under Warsaliganj police station of the district on July 2 night. Singh, who at present is lodged in jail, is the husband of Aruna Devi.
Aruna, who had got elected to the assembly as an independent, had joined Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janashakti Party.
