Gang rape case: Six cops suspended

Under fire from various quarters for 'complacency' in a sensational gang-rape case, Ahmedabad police on Monday finally suspended six cops for dereliction of duty.

They include an Inspector, two assistant sub-inspectors, one head constable, one constable and one lady constable have been placed under suspension. While four, including the inspector, are from the Shahibaug police station, the remaining two are from the Sola police station.

"Preliminary inquiry revealed that these policemen had delayed registration of the complaint by the 24-year-old victim and misbehaved with the girl," Joint Commissioner of Police (Administration) V V Rabari told PTI. Also, they had failed to take the victim to a hospital for treatment.
