Rail mishap: One of two station masters arrested

One of the two station masters, charged with culpable homicide in Tuesday's train collision and absconding after the mishap, was arrested early on Thursday morning from his native village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
Station master of Mirthala Ram Lal was arrested from Motla village by a special Government Railway Police team from Jalandhar, Additional Director General of Police (GRP) S C Jain told PTI.
Police parties have been rushed to Bihar, the native state of the other absconding station master V K Malviya, and Uttar Pradesh, he said adding a team also paid a visit to Malviya's brother in Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (Kangra) S Z H Zaidi said Lal was taken into custody at around 2.30 a.m. by the Punjab police after he surrendered in Motla village.
Lal and Malviya were absconding after the collision between Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad Express and Jalandhar-Pathankot DMU passenger train in Mansar, which claimed 38 lives.
The two officials have also been booked under the Indian Railways Act, under sections relating to negligence of duty.
