Ram 'marrying' Sita again on Dec 14

December 07, 2004 20:15 IST

Elaborate arrangements are being made for the 'Ram Baraat', the marriage procession of Lord Rama, which will leave for Nepal from Ayodhya on Wednesday.

The procession, with idols of Ram, Sita, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughan on decorated vehicles, will start from Karsewakpuram.

The baraat will trace the ancient route to Janakpur in Nepal, passing through Varanasi, Buxar, Patna, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga, reaching its destination on December 14.

The marriage ceremony of Lord Ram and Sita will be 're-enacted' on December 16.

The baraat will start the return journey from Birganj in Nepal on December 18.

Eminent saints, including Jagatguru Ramnacharya, Swami Ram Bhadavacharya and Mahant Kausal Kishore Das are likely to join the baraat.

The procession will strengthen the cultural bonds between India and Nepal, the organisers said.
