Adding a new dimension to the high-tech matchmaking business in Kerala, a mobile marriage bureau was launched in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday to bring proposals at the doorsteps of parents looking to get their children married.

The mobile units with online facility will visit the houses of clients with thousands of proposals, R Chandrasekharan, CMD, Garuda International, said.

To start with, seven mobile units will be made available.

A special unit, 'Garuda Mangalya Elite Service', was also pressed into service simultaneously, keeping in mind needs of customers with busy schedules and non-resident Keralites making brief visits to their home state.

Those availing the elite service will be provided with a high-tech vehicle with online facility.

During the journey to their destination, the customers will be able to browse the marriage bureau's databank.

For customers on flying visits, the service will be made available at the airport and a senior professional of the bureau will travel with the client.

Started 10 years ago, Garuda has a database of 200,000 and has helped 60,000 couples around the world enter wedlock. The firm has 16 branches, eight of them abroad, Chandrasekharan said.
