It's the time to disco

Lakshmi Rana wears CueRohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna who retail under the label Cue are known for their wearable collections.

Last year at the Lakme India Fashion Week, they mixed frills with combat gear. This year, they interpreted retro.

"The look of the season takes the best of the 1900s. From the flouncy cabarets of the 1930s to the flower power of the 1960s, the collection interprets it all," say the duo (check out Lakshmi Rana in the picture).

Cue Colours: Grey, white, beige, chocolate brown and steel. To balance these were the bold colors of purple, orange, metallic pink and blue -- colours that quite a few designers have chosen for the coming season.

Cue Style: Structured jackets, pleated skirts, ruffled tops, fitted cardigans and contemporary suits. Surface ornamentations included leather appliqué, patchwork, hand painting and smocking.

Quite a few outfits had detailed Indian embroidery and Indian motifs to create what the designer duo call an 'eclectic collection that is truly global.'

In the menswear section, well-tailored suits, jackets and cargo pants were put on the ramp in a palette of blue, grey and green with dabs of red, brown and copper.

Cue Fabrics: A range of fabrics, including knits, tweeds and stretch linen, wool, chiffons and corduroys used for men's trousers.

Cue Silhouettes: Short hemlines, going against the trend of knee-length skirts that other designers say is the look for the coming season.

Cue Accessories: Shell jewellery, bags and stoles designed to complement each ensemble.

Cue Prices: Between Rs 700 and Rs 15,600 for shirts, and Rs 750 and Rs 10,000 for women's wear.
