April 27, 2004 11:44 IST
The Supreme Court on Tuesday laid down strict guidelines to stop commercialisation of education by private schools in Delhi.
The schools have to comply with conditions mentioned at the time of allotment of land given at concessional rates, it said.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice V N Khare directed the director, education to go into the land allotment letters and find out whether the school had complied with the conditions therein.
The court said that it is mandatory for every recognised unaided school to file yearly financial statements disclosing its income from fee collected from students and other expenses, as well as the profit and surplus before the authorities.
