The Ganapati festival or Ganeshotsva is arguably the biggest festival in Maharashtra. The preparations begin months before the actual event, with artisans taking orders for creating huge idols of the lord.

The 10-day festival begins on Ganesh Chaturdashi and closes with the immersion of the idols on Anant Chaturdarshi.

Here the idol of the lord is about to be immersed at Girgaum Chowpatty.
