Amrozi was brought from the high-security prison on the resort island of Denpazar to the Central Jakarta District Court to give evidence at the trial of a Abdul Jabar, accused of the August 1, 2000, bombing, which killed two persons and injured 21, including ambassador Leonides T Caday.

Jabar could face death sentence if convicted under a 1951 emergency law.

According to prosecutors, the residence bombers wanted to avenge the death of fellow Muslims in the separatist conflict in the southern Philippines.

The prosecutors say Jabar conducted the bombing jointly with other suspects including Amrozi, Edi Setiono, Asep alias Darwin and Fathur Rohman al-Ghozi.

Amrozi testified that Ghozi bombed the ambassador's residence.

A smiling Amrozi gave two thumbs up at the end of his testimony -- the same gesture he made when he received his death sentence from a Bali court on August 7. He is appealing the sentence.
