Annan unhappy with US resolution on Iraq

October 03, 2003 03:01 IST

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan on Thursday said that a new United States draft resolution on Iraq was out of step with his own ideas for the UN to play a central role in the country.

The draft has been circulated among select Security Council members.

Annan is unhappy that the US does not envision a well-defined role for the UN in Iraq.
