Ankur Garg tops Civil Services exam

Ankur Garg has topped the list of 286 successful candidates in the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2002, according to results declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday.

Avinash Champawat, Mayank Joshi, Ajay Kumar Mishra, Mayur Maheshwari, Kamal Kishore Yadav, Bhanu Prakash Yeturu and Lokesh Kumar Singh were among the top ten, a UPSC release said.

S Awasthy, Swati Sharma and Avantika Gautam were among the 52 girls who were selected for the UPSC.

The Commission has recommended 70 names for consideration in the Administrative Services while 56 candidates have been approved for the Indian Police Service, 10 for the Indian Foreign Service, 131 for the Central Services Group 'A' and 43 for Central Services Group 'B'.

Among the successful candidates 88 belonging to the Other Backward Castes, 38 to the Scheduled Castes and 22 to the Scheduled Tribes, it said.

The results were declared on the basis of the Civil Service (Main) examination held in October-November 2002 and the interviews held in April 2003, the UPSC said.
