Orientation seminar for US-bound students

The United States Educational Foundation in India will hold pre-departure orientation seminars for students leaving for the US in Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. While the dates for Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai have been fixed, the date for the New Delhi seminar will be intimated later. 

The full-day seminar will provide students with information on how they could get through the first week at university plus academic and cultural issues they may encounter in the US.

Interested students may contact USEFI for information and registration. The seminar requires prior registration. They could contact the USEFI in person between 1.30 pm and 4 pm on weekdays or call the USEFI in cities where they wish to take the seminar.

The SNDT Women's University in Mumbai has begun admissions for an MA course in Sanskrit.

Mahindra All India Talent Scholarships For Diploma Courses in Polytechnics 2003

The KC Mahindra Education Trust, Mumbai, invites applications for Mahindra All India Talent Scholarships from students who have passed Std X or Std XII and have secured admission this year in Government or recognised polytechnics for diploma courses. Preference will be given to girl students, children from lower income group families, disabled children and children of armed forces personnel.

Scholarships of Rs 5,000 per year for a maximum period of 3 academic years will be awarded to selected students, to enable them to pursue diploma courses for which they have secured admissions.

Students can apply at any one of the addresses given below for an application form. Along with the application students should send a self-addressed envelope with stamps worth Rs 6 affixed.

Last day for obtaining applications: July 31, 2003.

The application form duly filled in by the applicants along with the necessary enclosures must reach any one of the centres given below, where the applicant would like to appear for the interview, if selected.

Last day for submitting applications:  August 16, 2003.

The interview date and venue will be intimated to selected applicants well in advance. The cost of travel to a certain extent will be paid to them.
