History books not plagiarised: M M Joshi

December 12, 2003 15:16 IST

The government on Friday denied that some history books for higher classes in schools were plagiarised and that ICHR chairman M A S Narayanan was dismissed for his criticism in this regard.

During Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi said Narayanan was removed from his post for some other reasons that had nothing to do with his observations on textbooks.

Joshi told Congress member Eduardo Falero that repetition of facts cannot be compared with fiction or creative writing and there was no question of the textbooks being plagiarised from American books.
