Exactly two week after New York went on the blink, London ground to a halt on Thursday thanks to a massive power breakdown. According to one estimate, almost 500,000 people were affected by the blackout.

Stockwell Station lies deserted after the outage paralysed the tube network Sixty per cent of the tube network was hit, leaving passengers stranded and businesses were without power. Close to 250,000 were travelling by trains when the breakdown occurred.
