August 31, 2003 15:54 IST

A day after foiling a major terror plot in the national capital by seizing a large quantity of ammunition and explosives and killing two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants, Delhi Police personnel on Sunday arrested two more ultras, from Uttar Pradesh.

The Pakistan-trained militants, identified as Ateeq Ahmad alias Nanhe and Rais Ahmad, were arrested from the Secunderabad area of Bulandshahr district around 0600 IST. The two are brothers of Habibullah alias Rafiq Ahmad, one of the two militants killed in the capital on Saturday.

Twenty-three electronic detonators, three remote control devices and Rs 86,000 in cash were seized from them, Joint Commissioner (Special Cell) Neeraj Kumar said.

The arrests were made on the basis of leads given by three persons - Pervez Ahmed, Feroz Ahmed and Noor Mohammad - taken into custody from the Sadar Bazar area of the capital on Saturday while carrying a consignment of three boxes of ammunition in a truck.

Neeraj Kumar said the two militants and Pervez Ahmed, Feroz Ahmed and Noor Mohammad have been charged under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
