J&K woman cop paraded naked by colleagues

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar | April 14, 2003 23:18 IST

Residents of Srinagar were shocked when the Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday paraded one of their own female colleagues naked after she was allegedly caught in mysterious circumstances with some persons in a house in the Kral Khud area.

Passers-by turned away as the policemen stripped the woman and paraded her in the locality.

The station house officer of Kral Khud police station has been transferred to the district police lines.

No police officer was willing to reveal details of the incident, except to say that an inquiry has been ordered. "The (Srinagar) district police chief will inquire into the incident and we will take strict action against the guilty," a senior officer told rediff.com.
