Darkness hampers rescue operations in Gandhinagar

Nightfall has compounded the task of the security forces trying to rescue people trapped in the Akshardham temple complex in Gandhinagar and go after the terrorists who attacked the place of worship on Tuesday evening.

The elite National Security Guards are being eagerly awaited to bolster the security operations amidst reports that the terrorists are randomly attacking people trying to flee the complex.

The night-vision devices used by NSG sharpshooters are expected to help in the operations. The sprawling 23 acre temple complex has been sealed. Local commandos have also taken up vantage positions.

Meanwhile, there are reports that all temples belonging to the wealthy Swaminarayan sect in Gujarat have been closed to the public as a precautionary measure.
