No disgruntlement in Uttar Pradesh BJP unit: PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Saturday evening expressed confidence that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati 'would sort out problems' amid reports of disgruntlement in the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party after the recent Cabinet expansion.

"We are hearing some complaints in this matter. This is not a new thing. But we are confident that our colleagues in Uttar Pradesh, the leadership will solve all problems and take a lead in the development of the state with everyone's support," he said.

On the economic front, Mayawati asked Vajpayee to announce a special package for the development of the state.

She sought Rs 20,000 crore from the Centre under different schemes to connect all the villages in the state by road and also ensure availability of power.

She also requested him to expedite the decision on the Taj International Airport project. The prime minister assured her that the Centre would consider the demand and take a decision soon.
