Mani granted conditional bail

A Kollegal court in the Chamarajnagar district in Karantaka on Saturday granted conditional bail to Tamil activist Kolathur Mani, who is being sought as an emissary by forest brigand Veerappan to negotiate the release of Janata Dal, United, leader H Nagappa.

The court had on Friday adjourned the application seeking bail filed by Mani, who is facing the charge of supplying arms to the bandit.

The Karnataka high court had earlier this week granted conditional bail to Mani in three cases. The government had also withdrawn all cases against Mani.

Last week, the brigand had served a 12-day ultimatum to the Karnataka government on sending Mani as emissary. He had threatened to kill Nagappa if his demand was not met.
