Freed militants not held again: J&K policeOnkar Singh in New DelhiThe Director General of Jammu and Kashmir police, A K Suri, on Friday denied reports that some of the militants who were released from jails in the last four weeks were arrested again. "I have seen these reports and I can tell you on record that we have not re-arrested even a single militant who was released on bail by courts or on the government's order," Suri told rediff.com from his office in Jammu. Asked if the recent spurt in violence in the state was a cause of concern, he said the police was ready to meet any challenge. He said, "The ups and down in the battle against terrorists will continue. It is our constant effort to get an upper hand over terrorists... But sometimes they do manage to spring surprises because they know when they are going to strike. "The terrorist attack on the Raghunath temple and the Shiv temple is one such example. But once they got there, it was our job to make sure that they did not get away... we managed to liquidate both the terrorists involved in the incidents." Tell us what you think of this report |
