Delhi HC rejects Krishna's plea in Ansal Plaza case

The Delhi high court on Wednesday rejected the plea seeking an independent inquiry into the Ansal Plaza shootout and quashing of the police notice to Hari Krishna, who claimed that the encounter with two Pakistani terrorists was stage-managed. The court subsequently directed him to appear before the police on Thursday to record his statement.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Devinder Gupta and Justice A K Sikri said Krishna has to appear before south Delhi Assistant Commissioner of Police Ranbir Singh at 4pm on Thursday.

The police, on November 8, had given the notice to Krishna to record his statement under section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code as a witness. He, however, declined to appear before the police alleging threats by some officers.

Ranbir Singh is also probing the shootout on the order of the Delhi police commissioner after a petition was filed before the National Human Rights Commission.

Delhi police counsel Mukta Gupta said the commissioner had transferred the case from the special cell to the south Delhi police on his own initiative after a petition was filed before the NHRC.
