Border Security Force personnel seized a major consignment of high-grade explosives meant for Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad militants from a hideout in south Kashmir, a spokesman said on Monday.

"The consignment was meant for the militants, who were planning to target VIPs, convoys of security forces and for explosions at crowded places for creating terror among the public," the spokesman said.

The troops seized 25kgs of TNT and 8kgs of RDX from the hideout in Shikargah area of Tral in Pulwama district on Sunday evening, he said.

They also recovered 10 RPG rockets, 10 anti-tank rockets, 18 boosters and 30kgs of low-grade explosives, he added.

Troops of the 120 and 138 battalions carried out by the raid after receiving specific information regarding the explosives, he said.
