Lashkar founder released, vows
jihad in Kashmir will continue

Voicing concern over the release of Lashkar-e-Tayiba founder Hafeez Mohammed Saeed in Pakistan on Tuesday, India on Wednesday said it had always nursed doubts about President Gen Pervez Musharraf's commitment to end Islamabad's involvement with and support for terrorism.

As if the confirm New Delhi's fears, the main accused in the attack on Parliament on December 13 last year vowed to continue the jihad (holy war) against India.

Saeed had been under house arrest in Lahore for the past five months. The Lahore high court had on Monday declared his detention unlawful and ordered his release.

There were also reports that Masood Azhar, leader of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad, may also be released in the near future.

"This (release of militants) is nothing new," an external affairs ministry spokesman said in New Delhi adding, "There has been hardly any movement on the dismantling of infrastructure of terrorism, on the launching stations, communication centres and other facilities."

Musharraf has not fulfilled his own declared commitments to the international community and which are also required under the UN Security Council Resolution 1373, analysts said.

This was clear from the release of leaders of terrorist organisations, which have been banned by several countries, they said.

The US has also voiced disappointment over the release and asked Pakistan to ensure that terror suspects face justice.
