Police bust railway reservation racket in Bihar

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The Indian Railways and the Bihar police busted a gang of fake railway ticket sellers in Patna and recovered railway reservation tickets worth Rs 50,000. They also arrested two persons in this connection.

The police also seized fake letterheads of several Bihar ministers, members of the legislative assembly, and members of Parliament along with other documents connected with railway reservations.

According to Danapur Railway Divisional Commercial Manager A K Singh, the railway police and a Bihar police team conducted the raids near the Patna railway junction. MLA letterheads, Rs 10,000 in cash, and other documents were found.

The team raided the office of SRP Travels and Tours, which had reservation tickets in bulk for different places in fake names. "The touts had purchased the railway tickets in advance for selling in black," Singh said.
