Hand over reins to Hegde: JD-U leaders tell Sharad Yadav

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The Janata Dal -United leaders from Bihar have demanded replacement of the party president Sharad Yadav by veteran leader Ramakrishna Hegde.

Legislators Ram Kumar Yadav and Ramashish Yadav, and leader Ejaj Ahmad accused Sharad Yadav of not giving enough time to the party.

"Yadav has failed to strengthen the party and there is a need for change of guard in the party," Ram Kumar Yadav said.

All the three are known loyalists of JD-U Member of Parliament Devendra Yadav, a known critic of Sharad Yadav.

Last week, Bihar Chatra JD-U president Jay Narayan Yadav had urged Sharad Yadav to expel party MP Devendra Yadav and both the party MLAs for indulging in anti-party activity by forming the 'Bihar Nav Nirman Morcha'.

In July this year, the JD-U in Bihar split when four of its MLAs formed a separate party and extended support to the Rashtriya Janata Dal government led by Chief Minister Rabri Devi.
